Allectus was an officer of Carausius, a British usurper. He assassinated Carausius and claimed the title of emperor himself when it looked like the breakaway army was losing ground to Roman forces intent on recapturing the British territory. Allectus was no more successful against the Romans than his predecessor. He ended up being killed in battle and his empire quickly reverted back to Roman control. Return |
