Caracalla

Probably deserving of the scorn heaped upon him by contemporary historians, Caracalla became sole Emperor by murdering his younger brother Geta, his co-Emperor, in front of Julia Domna, their mother, who had brought her boys together attempting to reconcile them. Although he clearly was concerned for the welfare of the common citizens–his baths in Rome were the grandest ever constructed–his megalomania and increasing mental instability eventually led to his murder by his own troops.
