Claudius II

Claudius II was declared emperor after the assassination of Gallienus, an act that many historians suspect he played a part in. He began the daunting task of reuniting a divided and rebellious empire, but died of the plague before completing it, leaving it to his successor, Aurelian, to finish the job.
