Constantius was the father of Constantine the Great and the patriarch of the Constantine Dynasty. He worked his way up through the military from humble beginnings in the Danubian region, eventually getting selected by Diocletian as one of the four leaders of the tetrarchy. He reigned as Ceasar until the retirement of Diocletian and Maximian, upon which he achieved the title of Augustus. Return |
