Crispus

Crispus was the eldest son of Constantine the Great. He was a skillful general, and his elevation to Caesar in A.D. 317 set the stage for his eventual succession to emperor. Unfortunately, he fell victim to his stepmotherā€™s treachery, who duped his father into believing he was conspiring against him. Constantine had him executed for treason in 326, which eventually he regretted bitterly.
