Domitian appears to have carried on the traditions of paranoia, mean-spiritedness and tyranny displayed in so many of his predecessors. Like Tiberius, he had little interest in politics or being Emperor. His ill temper and harsh punishments eventually inspired the plot that did him in. He was the last of the “12 Caesars.”
