Hannibalianus was the nephew and son-in-law of Constantine the Great. In anticipation of a successful campaign against the Persians, Constantine appointed him Rex Regni (kings of kings). The intended campaign ended with Constantine's death, however, and Hannibalianus was quickly murdered in the purge of the extended family members initiated by the three surviving sons of Constantine.
