Taking advantage of the emperor Valens' absence from Constantinople, he declared himself emperor and shortly after marched on Valens' army to consolidate his power. Many of his soldiers abandoned him in battle, however, and he was forced to flee. Soon after, he was captured and executed, having little impact on history. Return |
