Trajan Decius

Decius was proclaimed emperor by his troops after quelling the rebellion of Pacatian. After defeating the forces of Philip I, has was given the honorific "Trajan" by the Roman Senate. Today he is remembered largely because of his persecution of the Christians and his death in battle against the Goths, becoming the first Roman emperor to die in battle against foreign enemy troops.
