Trebonianus Gallus

Trebonianus Gallus was declared emperor by his troops after the murder of Trajan Decius. He proved to be the wrong man for the wrong job, and his brief reign was marked by a continuing series of disasters, both self-inflicted and those beyond his control. He chose to divert attention away from his incompetence by ratcheting up the persecution of the Christians.
