Agrippa was Augustus’ lifelong friend and most trusted general. Had he outlived Augustus he would have succeeded him as emperor, but he died under mysterious circumstances in 12 B.C. Rumors of treachery by Livia, Augustus’ wife, have never been proven. Yet they persist.
